Connections Between Pressure Switches, Pressure Sensors, and Pressure Transmitters
Common Measurement Objectives All three devices focus on pressure measurement. They are instruments or devices used to obtain pressure-related information, applicable in various fields such as industrial production, energy, machinery, aerospace, etc. They monitor and control pressure parameters to ensure the normal operation and safety of systems.
Relevance of Technical Principles There is a certain relevance in technical implementation. Pressure sensors are one of the core components of pressure switches and pressure transmitters, and the operation of the latter two relies to a certain extent on the pressure signal detection function of pressure sensors. For example, some pressure switches and pressure transmitters integrate pressure sensors internally to obtain pressure signals.
Distinctions
Category Function Accuracy Output Form
Pressure Switch A device that triggers a switch action when pressure reaches a set value. Its main function is to detect pressure thresholds, used for simple pressure control and alarm. Relatively low accuracy. It can only determine whether the pressure has reached a specific value within the set pressure range, but cannot provide accurate pressure values. Its measurement range is generally narrow, designed for specific pressure control needs. Generally outputs switch signals, such as normally open or normally closed contact signals. When the pressure reaches the set value, the switch state changes, used to control the on-off of circuits or trigger alarm devices.
Pressure Sensor A device that can sense pressure signals and convert them into electrical signals for output. It mainly focuses on pressure detection and preliminary signal conversion. High accuracy, capable of providing relatively accurate pressure measurement values, but the accuracy varies among different types of pressure sensors. The measurement range is relatively wide, and suitable pressure sensors can be selected according to different application requirements. Outputs electrical signals, such as voltage signals, current signals, or digital signals. However, these signals are usually weak and may need to be processed by signal conditioning circuits (such as amplification and filtering) for effective use.
Pressure Transmitter An instrument that converts pressure variables into transmissible standardized output signals. It can not only sense pressure and convert signals but also process and amplify signals to output signals that meet specific standards, facilitating communication with other equipment and connection to control systems. Usually has high accuracy and stability, capable of providing accurate measurement values within a wide pressure range. Outputs standard electrical signals, such as 4-20mA current signals, 0-5V voltage signals, etc. These signals have unified standards, facilitating connection and communication with various control systems and equipment.
